Bella
“Bella Sky” is the most recent addition to our family. She arrived on November 30th. Bella was born on July 9th, 2013 on the farm of Cory and Caroline Feaver in Cookstown. So she was just short of five months old when she arrived.
She was accepted into the ‘herd’ right away … especially by good old Paco. Within a few days she was running in the woods and kicking up her heels – joining in on games of tag.
She has a pure black undercoat and this winter has a chocolate brown shaggy winter coat. Her brown bangs and beard sure are cute against her slim black face.
She loves to be petted and brushed and will stand perfectly still while you indulge yourself.
After the arrival of Bella we decided to try out using wood shavings in our barns instead of hay. We’d asked the Feavers what they used and had noticed that our other connection, the Gibsons, also used wood chips. What a difference! We’re still learning.
Cheers to our beautiful ‘baby girl’! 😉
Sadly, on Saturday, October 1, 2022 we had to say goodbye to our Bella. We had nine amazing years with her. She grew into such a feisty, funny goofy character who loved to cuddle and to be brushed. Her very favourite thing of all was to have her ears rubbed and scratched. Bella developed an intestinal blockage that we couldn’t cure. She will be sadly missed.

Love your beautiful donkey herd! We have a mini, and she is a real love.
