Rosie

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERARosie is an affectionate miniature jenny. She is beautiful – right from the tip of her soft brown nose to the end of her fluffy tail. She LOVES people – and will find a way to stay in the thick of things – even if the ‘thick’ includes saws, hammers and construction equipment! Rosie came to live with us on May 7th of 2013. She is six years old this year – same age as our granddaughter. Rosie was born on April 9th. (For those ‘in the know’ … that is Auntie May’s birthday – of course!) I can’t imagine a day without Rosie hugs …
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAShe has a beautiful curious nature. She is the first to try to turn over an empty bowl … or the one who will find a way to pick up mats, water bottles, lawn chairs, boards …
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAShe LOVES to go for walks and will try to put her halter on herself if she can get at it.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI can bring her out into the front yard with me and just let her wander. For now I am still attaching a lead rope to her halter … especially after the day she decided I was way out of line when I took Darby for a walk without her. She found a way to get out of the paddock to find us! Only we were long gone – and it ended up being Edie and two passing joggers who had to convince her to go back to the paddock to wait for me …
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERARosie has had two foals. When she goes into heat the politics of the paddock can get a little complicated. It was shortly after her arrival that we learned we needed to develop a gate system that could separate her from Paco when necessary. When she isn’t in heat she is perfectly capable of ruling the trio – which makes it great to be able to have them all together. She is developing into my hiking buddy. As long as you stop for regular bites of the lush greens … she is happy to walk along!
