Seems yesterday’s ice and fury left behind some welcome gifts. The ducks spent the entire day up on the hillside where they found two big puddles trapped by the rock. I went looking for them because they never showed up to take their usual morning dip in their rubber tub.
These puddles were dabbling ducks’ heaven! I found myself a higher drier rock and just enjoyed their play. Good thing even muddy water runs off a duck’s back. Hehehe! I wondered what Penny (white Pekin) would look like by the end of the day… turns out she was just as white as usual.
The rain washed away most of the ice and snow. That made for great scratching grounds for the chickens too.
I think we are officially into the ‘heydays’ of spring. Mild weather – bare ground – no bugs!
