Seven weeks later … and the keets are doing pretty well. We have an ‘understanding’ about how treat time works. When they hear me shake the millet feed they know its time. We picked up a cow bell this past week. I’ve hung it in the coop. I’m ringing it each time (along with shaking the feed bottle). The plan is that by springtime they associate that bell with time to hit the coop. They make room for me in the coop and don’t startle and scatter. Their feathers are changing from the striped pattern to the polka dotted one of adult birds. I’m fascinated watching them … and listening to them. Very interesting to meet a new creature like this!
We are all settling in to watch the Grey Cup. Go Red Blacks!
