Brilliance of the Late Bloomers

I wonder why beauty inspires a hush … I feel like I’m slipping through the woods and treading lightly across the paddock so as not to scare it away. I didn’t expect this fall beauty. We’ve had such a drought I anticipated a muted brown fading away — not the storm of colour that is marching triumphantly through the trees and the gardens!

Plants that struggled in August’s heat and humidity are downright cocky in this early October sunshine. Dried seed heads are surrounded by new buds and burgeoning blooms.

Never underestimate the late bloomers! We can sometimes judge them as ‘failures’ if we are not patient enough to let them unfold in their own time. Good reminder Mother Nature.
