After all of the excitement of the morning’s move for Petunia, Ede had a little afternoon lay down. As she stirred herself back awake she rallied by looking forward to doing a little tractor work in the front paddock… However … as she headed out the front door she was confronted by –
YES! … and NO! A skunk! But not Petunia … another seemingly older, wiser and definitely more aggressive skunk! Not to be outdone – especially having felt so good about relocating such a cute little critter this morning without a big stink (literally) – she decided to pursue the same route with ‘Brother Barnaby’.
My job was to let her know where Barnaby was as she came around the corner of the house. Seemed she clearly saw where Barnaby was on her own!
I was suitably impressed by her
brazen brave approach. Barnaby was NOT!
I had just watched him chase away two black squirrels and a flock of grackles. I knew he had his own helping of bravado…
Undaunted Ede crept in ever closer …
… until Barnaby decided he’d had enough. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes I wouldn’t believe it. (And in order to see it I couldn’t take pictures. Besides … they could have ended up being the kind of pictures that someone would remark on with ‘And she kept taking pictures?!’) He CHASED Ede around the side of the house. He would jump at her – bump his rear and tail into the air – and then run at her again …
Current score – Humans 1 – Skunks 1.
Stay tuned!
WOW I’m lost for words!
Is that because you’d like Barnaby to come to live with you?
