Snug as a Bug in a …

Tucked Injan 17 002BOOK! There is something symbiotic about winter and reading … and … I’d even venture further to say that for me winter means time to settle in with some good books. I am a ‘Book Rat’ – when I was a teenager I was a gym rat … but I’m happy to settle for Book Rat nowadays. We have THE BEST library system right here in our area. I love that I can browse through the entire collection right here from my computer. I can order books, check out online magazines, newspapers, ebooks, databases, sheet music books, CD’s and DVD’s. My sister, Cindy, and I used to love spending a whole Saturday at the  Guelph Public Library when we were kids. I can still remember the smell of the well worn Curious George books. And we know where that got us! Although … that is entirely a different story.

This past year I’ve started to use Goodreads to keep track of what I’ve read and what I want to read. Here is what I read during 2014.
Read2Read1I’d rank these as my top five favourites:
1. The Martian by Andy Weir
2. The Joy of X by Steven Strogatz
3. Daemon by Daniel Suarez (and the sequels!)
4. Oil Man and the Sea by Arno Kopecky
5. Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman (now I’m hooked on the series …!)

I have 428 books on my ‘Want To Read’ list!! I guess I had better devote some good time to getting at those. Oh … wait … the Canada Reads list for 2015 is out … guess that now makes it 443 books. Ahhh!
