Roots and Wings

My parents had a window ornament that hung over the sink. “The greatest gifts you can give your children are roots and wings.” As a grandmother those words really strike home to me. Each summer we get to spend a couple of weeks living through days and nights with our granddaughters here at The Meadow. I love the chance to hear the creak of the bunk across the room as a little three year old peeks over her pillows to see if I’m awake … or creeps across the floor to move as closely to my sleeping face as possible before breaking into fits of giggles … I love the chance to live through temper tantrums, and scraped knees and acts of determination and courage… to the point where we know there is unconditional love and acceptance in this safe haven of family … to where the girls call this their ‘other home’. xo
