Silver Linings

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOkay … the melt is on. And what a melt this is going to be! This giant glacier has lived on the ‘shed’ roof since December. Each time there was a new storm – it gathered another layer. This morning it CRASHED to the ground completely filling the walkway. The good news … the canoe is still in one piece.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe bad news … the shed roof now is an inverted ‘a’ frame! 8( Now you might wonder – just how thick is that ice? I came around the corner to find Ede whacking at it with the axe. There is a bit of a dent where she was working… Maybe we should just host a garden party in June and people could chip their own ice cubes.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOne task this morning involved hauling a few sled loads to the compost bin. The bad news – we’re using the sleds because the Bully has a flat tire.  The good news – when you’re using a sled you can climb right to the top of Mount Poop! The other good news – I’m sure this process is developing my muscles – including my toe muscles that are gripping the slippery slope! 😉
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnother job involved moving a hay bale to dry ground so the quartet could enjoy the sunshine and munchies at the same time. I was heading for the front field and the hay bed that is left over from the ‘winter’. (Hey – did I get to write that – from the winter – in past tense – woot woot! – that’s good news!)
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGood thing these tiny little plastic sleds are so hardy! 😉
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMore muscle power – and just as much toe grip required – to get up the hill.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABad news, as it turned out, the bale did not make the necessary turn to get ‘down’ the hill to the front field. But the quartet seemed just as happy to hang out in the woods for today’s meals.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPaco’s legs may be a bit shorter after eating on a downhill slant all day! As we settled down to lunch they were all still working away at the bale. Sure smells like spring – looks like spring and sounds like spring in our yard today!
