Hi out there!
We’re heading for July in construction mode. And like all good construction projects … we have a deadline in mind. Hopefully by Thursday afternoon (when we host a Retirement ‘Doo’) the new paddock buildings will be up, sided and occupied. We’re adding a ‘Bully Garage’ onto the girls’ donkey house. In order to ensure the snow slides off it needed a good slope … which meant a higher roof … which means more room. So now we will have a Bully Garage with a cathedral ceiling.
We’ve had Travis Jackson and his crew helping us out. They’ll be back on Tuesday to finish the framing and then to put up Paco’s Paddock Condo. Did I mention that he has convinced us to take down the Hilltop Condo? His new digs will have a direct view into the girls’ donkey house – as per his wishes! 🙂
We have leveled and set the foundation for the Condo so it is ready for Travis to work on.
I think we may be able to call our ‘backyard’ the Meadow Donkey Village.
You can see Paco’s Condo foundation on the left, the hay barn in the middle, and the girls’ barn on the right. This morning while we were working out there we let Darby hang out with Paco. Seems that she does not have the same ‘draw’ as Rosie. 😉 They gamboled up in the woods together and then raced each other down to the paddock to see who could get the first ‘bean’ on Rosie. I had taken her out for a walk down the road. She is not the least bit phased by cars going by! I think I may have found my hiking buddy! 🙂
Darby’s ears seem to have unfolded this week!! I think it is because she has lost so much of her winter furry face. With a long thin nose like that her ears really stand out. She sure is beautiful. If ‘Day Two’ is any indication – I’m going to enjoy this ‘retirement gig’. A good friend called yesterday and when I answered the phone this great mellow voice said, “Welcome to the rest of your life.” Thanks John!
Hope all is good in your neck of the woods. I’m sending out a special hug to my Aunt Betty who has relocated to Midland.
