Hillside Accomodation

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPaco is back to his very cuddly self now that I’m his only ‘same side of the fence’ company.  He is on vacation until his studdly nature calms down some.  This morning I was helping him with some grit in his eye and working a while as his personal bug swatter.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAYesterday we waved goodbye to Tyler and Travis who worked a full day laying and smoothing gravel in the paddock and on the ‘Bully Road’ across the hilltop. They also laid a drainage pipe so we can avoid a spring flood next year. We realized that there hadn’t been time to complete the fencing along the hillside nor to finish the ‘Hilltop Hilton’. Travis assured us that he could be back in perhaps two weeks to work on those two jobs. When Ede and I awoke this morning – we both had the same genius plan to complete the work ourselves. So… here is the ‘Hilltop’ all framed in. Tomorrow we’ll put up the walls and figure out how we can slant the roof. Paco checked it out and gave his approval for stage one …
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe also completed the last stretch of fencing … which will allow us to move the donkeys around in four different areas. The girls are enjoying the Donkey House in the paddock tonight. They had the hillside last night. We should have both shelters ready by the time the rain rolls around late tomorrow night or on Monday.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe paddock is all smoothed out now. Darby and Rosie did a great job of directing me to where the ‘bumps’ were. Notice the two cement blocks on the harrow? I had suggested that I stand on the back to give the harrow some weight. But Ede pointed out that would leave us without a camera person.  😉
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe girls gave the Paddock their stamp of approval this afternoon.
