And Rosie Makes THREE!

So … turns out the Meadow faeries had plans for another donkey ‘dear’ to join the herd.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe got in touch with the Gibson family (same family that brought us Darby) and low and behold … the perfect match was just waiting for a new home. Welcome Rosie!

Rosie is a five year old miniature donkey … which makes her the perfect companion for us! She is VERY people friendly and cuddly. She is the perfect ‘granddaughter’ size too.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAShe is also very ‘donkey savvy’ and quickly joined in with the rest of us.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfter a little nose to nose conversations she followed us all up into the woods.
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt sure made me chuckle when Paco decided there were too many bugs up there and all three of them ran like the wind down ‘Bully Road’ and back into the paddock. Turns out that Rosie is going to have an extra tug on my heart. She was the first of the miniatures on the Gibson farm. So she is very special to them. I’ve promised to give her LOTS of love and a life of leisure here at the Meadow. It is nice to know that a family like theirs considers our home a special enough place for Rosie. Before I tore myself away from the paddock she was pressed up against my legs on one side and Darby on the other. I like the idea of that kind of donkey sandwich!
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASo as the sun sets tonight … the ‘posse’ is a threesome …
well – four – when you count me in too!

  1. This one looks just my size. It is good that you have plenty of room at The Meadow, and in your hearts. Love Kate W.

  2. AHHHH! So cute and lucky to have landed at the meadow. Gotta wonder where this retirement project is going to end, though!? I’ve got to come for a visit soon as I’ve not yet been introduced to Darby, let alone Rosie!! xo Pam

  3. Congratulations! What a looker! She is really adorable. I’m looking forward to reading about the new “family dynamics” as the herd become acquainted. Did Rosie and Darby know each other from before at the Gibson’s? Wonder how donkeys “catch up”.

  4. Hi Wendy and Ede,

I love being able the “check up” on Rosie! Her pictures are beautiful! … Gary.
